A day around Kuching

Yesterday (220912, Saturday), Put's parents brought Cik Siti and I sightseeing around Kuching after we finished our BPC test :-)

First, we chilled out at Put's home in Petrajaya. After Zuhur prayer, and had our lunch at Singapore Chicken Rice in Jalan Satok, we started our journey. Put's Papa brought us around Santubong.

Hm hm hm guess what's this mount?

Chak!

Mount Santubong of course! :-D

Mount Santubong is where Princess Santubong lie down after being hit on cheek till crack by Princess Sejinjang. I did story about this legend on previous entry. Click here to read :-P

Papa Put told, many climbers or anyone camping around this mount, who sing "Puteri Santubong" song, usually will be possessed by the princess's spirit. Same case as Ledang mount, ait? Just don't cross the taboos, and you will be alright.

We went around villages in Santubong area, such as Kampung Santubong and Kampung Buntal. Then, went to Damai beach. South China Sea is so mesmerizing. Sorry no photos, we just stayed in the car because the day was so hot. Mama Put can't stand hot :-P Papa Put said beaches here are dirty nowadays, not clean as it used to be. But from what I see, beaches in Peninsular is dirtier. Hm. At Damai also where Sarawak Cultural Village (I went under UiTM trip at the end of orientation week), and Damai Beach Resort located. He said that beaches by the resort is cleaner than public beach we went before. Of course laa, private beach eh. Heee~

At a fishermen village later on, Mama Put brought some local snacks to munch. I wonder what is this kuih called? I asked Put's parents, but they also do not know the real name is. So, they call it "Aunty Onne". This kuih is fried, and after that covered with Apong syrup. Apong is a type of sugar, like Gula Melaka, but unlike Gula Melaka which is made from coconut, Gula Apong is made from Nipah.Gula Apong is really famous in Sarawak, they use it in many local delicacies.

Who are you, sweety?

Hi Penyaram :3

Penyaram or Pinyaram, one of the ingredient is Gula Apong. In Peninsular, this kuih is called Cucur Jawa and is using Gula Melaka.

Afterwards, we went around Kampung Lintang. This village is opposite the famous Waterfront.

We headed to Jalan Satok, Kuching then. "Kamu pernah makan Tumpik?" (Translate: Have you eat Tumpik?), asked Papa Put. Both of us, Siti and I shook our heads. "Okay, jom rasa Tumpik dulu sebelum pergi Pasar Minggu Satok!" (Translate: Okay, lets eat Tumpik first before we go to Satok's Weekend Market). Weekend market in Jalan Satok is really famous o_O

So.. This is Tumpik. Sarawak's pancake, made from Sago and grated coconut. Guess what it is served with? Yeah, Gula Apong (again)! :-D

And we went to Satok's Weekend Market~

 Sorry Mama Put >_<

It is same as any other weekend markets in Malaysia, but the different is, it also sells animals o.O Pusak (cat), asuk (anjing), ayam (chicken), renab (arnab), tikus hamster (hamster), and fishes, just to name a few. According to Papa Put, next week this market shall be crowded than this weekend. Why? Paycheck day! $_$

Ah, look what I found for the first time..
Buah Kristal! (Crystal fruit).

Dark purple thick skin, with almost crystal clear thick flesh, and big seed.
Wonder what it is taste like.

So that was our last location of the day. Mama Put gave each of us (Siti and I) a piece of Kek Lapis (swiss roll version).

Thank you for a wonderful and stomach-full trip, uncle and aunty :-)
